Our final two Bible studies will take place Tuesday May 28th and Monday June 3rd at lunch in room 414. Bibles are provided everyone is welcome to attend. Thursday May 30th School Year end Dinner 5pm at Golden Corral in Downey. Spirit West Coast Christian Concert Festival at Citizens Bank Arena in Ontario Saturday June 8th, 2pm-12midnight, tickets $25. Arsalyn Officers/members Dinner is this Saturday 6-9pm at Almonsor Court  in Alhambra(by invitation only). More info and MUSD permission slips for remaining activities see or contact Mr. Lianoz, Youth Club Christian Fellowship Advisor in room 414.

A group of AVID Juniors has begun a fundraising campaign that will benefit the non-profit organization Save the Children, and thus, millions of children around the world. 

 

From AVID juniors: "We are helping children who are less fortunate globally, by providing medical treatment, educational resources and shelter.  Any donation can contribute towards ensuring the success of children."

Eastside Stories Conference Registration 2019

Location: Roosevelt High School

Keynote Speaker: Jollene Levid

Jollene is a Regional Organizer for United Teachers Los Angeles - the second largest teachers union in the US, which went on strike and won this past January 2019. She has been a union organizer, contract negotiator, and former union director for over 16 years in the US education and healthcare industries, and for two organizing campaigns in the Philippines. Jollene Levid is the Founding Chairperson of AF3IRM, an anti-imperialist/transnational feminist organization for women of color, and has been a part of the organization for 17 years, currently serving on AF3IRM's International Committee. She graduated from Bravo High School, received her BA in Political Science and Asian American Studies at UC Irvine, and got her Masters in Social Work from USC. Jollene hails from Northeast Los Angeles, is a mother, martial artist, and bookworm.

East Side Stories is an opportunity for youth to be at the forefront of creating social change, and for Los Angeles to come together to share and strategize ways to improve our city. In the great tradition of the Chicano student walk-outs that took place across East Los Angeles in 1968, we continue to nurture a community of resistance and resilience.
