The Boys Varsity soccer team beat Keppel 4-0 on thursday to improve there almont league record to 5-1(13-6-3 overall) and remain in second place in Almont league play. The Lancers will next  host Montebello on Tuesday at 315pm. Montebello is currently in First place at 6-0, 16-1-3 overall on the season and ranked #3 in the CIF Division 2 Boys Soccer. Montebello beat BG at Montebello earlier in the season 3-1, In that match the Lancers played the second half of the match with  one player short only nine players due to a controversial red card and without starting goal keeper Jordan Gallardo and  fowards Juan Magallanes and Ricardo Naranjo who were all injured. All three players are back and expect to play against Montebello. The only Lancer goal was scored by foward David Cadena to begin the second half on a breakaway play in 30 seconds to start second half. A Lancer win would create a tie for first place in the Almont league with Montebello, there are no tie breakers in Almont league soccer matches both teams are in Division 2. The Lancers need the win to secure at least a possible CO- Almont League Championship a tie or lost would give the Lancers  most likely second place in the league andMontebello the advantage to win The Almont League with only three remaining matches on the season. We invite everyone Students, Teachers, Staff, Administration to come out and support The Boys Varsity Soccer tean to victory! BEAT THE OILERS!. The Boys JV Soccer team is currently 6-0 in first place in Almont league play! The JV team game will follow the Varsity game at 445pm.

For the summer assignment you will research the molecular structure of the water molecule and explain the different properties of water. Please be thorough and complete all parts of the assignment, be ready to present to small groups the first full week of school and take an exam. You will not need your textbooks for this assignment. This is a requirement and will be part of your first quarter grade even for late enrolled students. If you have any questions, see Ms. Anaya (rm. 313) or Mr. Alvarado (rm. 310), or send a school loop mail.

Due: August 21, 2017

Assignment: Create a poster in excellence (means neatly) that includes all of the following information in an organized manner. Each section should have a title, a written explanation and a visual (hand-drawn or printed, colored). Both sides of the poster may be used, or tape two regular sized posters together.

1) Research the molecular structure of the water molecule. Explain how the molecular structure of water facilitates hydrogen bonding. In your explanation include what it means that water is polar and how this explains it's shape. Include two visuals of the water molecule- the Bohr model and the Ball and Stick model.

2) Properties of water: Cohesive- explain how the polarity of water allows it to be cohesive. You might need to explain surface tension. Include an example of how the cohesiveness of water benefits LIFE.  Include 1 or 2 visuals that you will use during your presentation.

3) Properties of water: Adhesive- explain how the polarity of water allows it to be adhesive. You might need to explain capillary action. Include an example of how the adhesiveness of water benefits LIFE. Include 1 or 2 visuals that you will use during your presentation.

4) Properties of water: High specific heat- explain what it is and how water's high specific heat helps maintain temperature. Include an example of how it benefits LIFE. Include 1 or 2 visuals that you will use during your presentation.

5) Properties of water: High heat of vaporization- explain what it is and how it facilitates cooling. Include an example of how it benefits LIFE. Include 1-2 visuals that you will use during your presentation.

6) Properties of water: Low density of ice- explain how the water molecules in an ice crystal are differently spaced than in liquid water. Include an example of how this benefits LIFE. Include 1-2 visuals that you will use during your presentation.

7) Properties of water: Solubility- explain how water is a good solvent for polar substances and ions. Include an example of how this benefits LIFE. Include 1-2 visuals that you will use during your presentation.
